Steps by step guide to e-File Your ITR

In this blog Tax Spanner team will take you through all the steps in filing ITR. Before we get started, you should keep the following documents handy to complete the process smoothly:

  1. PAN Card
  2. Aadhaar Card
  3. Bank account details
  4. Form 16 & 26AS
  5. Investments details

Step 1: Log in to my account on taxspanner.com

Step 2

Click on the upload your Form 16/26 AS button and then upload the form 16 with passwords if the PDF file is password protected. You can also upload form 26 AS in case you have any TDS transactions.

Step 3: After uploading the form 16/ 26AS verify your details.

Step 4. Read the questions carefully and fill all the applicable and mandatory fields so that relevant ITR form can be chosen for you.

Step 5: Most of the fields would be automatically filled using you form 16. Verify your personal details here and enter the missing fields if any.

Step 6: Verify your income details, also you can disclose any other income not mentioned in your form 16 and claim applicable exemptions.

Step 7: Verify your deduction details, also you can disclose any other deduction not mentioned in your form 16.
Enter investment details for deductions to be claimed (eg. LIC, PPF, etc, and claim other tax benefits here.

Step 8: Enter the details of donations for claiming any deductions U/S 80G.

Step 9: Enter the Details of Taxes Paid. If you have paid advance tax or self-assessment tax then mention the challan details. In case there is still tax payable, then you can also make tax payments by creating new challan No. 280 using the CLICK HERE link.

Step 10: Verify the final tax computation and enter your bank account details at the bottom of the page.

Step 11: Most of the fields would be automatically filled using you form 16. Verify your personal details here and enter the missing fields if any.

Step 12: Tax spanner system will check your return for potential errors and if there are no errors the system will display the message: there were no errors in your ITR.
Click on submit for E-FILING

You have successfully filled your income tax return. Congratulations!!
